AgSTEP
Overview
AgSTEP, the Ag Skills Training and Employment Program, helps farmworkers and agricultural students build skills for a changing industry through California community colleges. Its competency-based Agriculture Systems certificate recognizes what learners already know and lets them move through the material at their own pace, in English and Spanish. The credential is portable and stackable toward degrees in fields such as agricultural technology, automation and compliance. AgSTEP began at Central Valley community colleges, including Merced College, and is expanding to Shasta, Hartnell and Imperial Valley colleges with support from the Foundation for California Community Colleges. Farmworkers and students can contact a participating college about enrollment.
