Overview
Merced College connects agricultural education with industrial and technical skills. Its competency-based AgTEC Agriculture Systems Technology certificate prepares students for careers in a changing agricultural industry through practical work and systems learning. The School of Agriculture and Industrial Technology also offers agriculture, mechanized agriculture, diesel technology, industrial maintenance, welding, and related pathways. Students, employers, and education partners can connect with these programs to discuss training, enrollment, or agricultural workforce collaboration.
What they do
Agriculture degrees and transfer
Offers associate, transfer, and certificate programs in agriculture business, animal, crop, and plant science, horticulture, and agriculture education, taught on the college farm and in greenhouses and livestock facilities.
Agricultural technology
Trains farmworkers and other agricultural learners in agtech skills through a noncredit, competency-based certificate with bilingual support, and has proposed a bachelor's degree in agricultural technology.
Equipment and technical trades
Trains students, working farmers, and technicians on agricultural equipment, diesel engines, hydraulics, and power equipment, alongside related pathways in industrial maintenance and welding.
Student leadership in agriculture
Develops agriculture students' communication and leadership skills as they plan events, lead tours, and give presentations promoting agriculture education.
