
Orange Coast College (OCC)
Overview
Orange Coast College offers unmanned aircraft systems education through its Aviation Science program. Students study aircraft systems, flight and control fundamentals, safety, regulations, automated missions, and data, with crop scouting, irrigation, and fertilization among the agricultural applications described. OCC also serves as DUCC’s Southern California regional partner for educator training, helping schools develop drone skills and curriculum. College coursework and DUCC training have separate participation arrangements.
What they do
Drone pilot training
Teaches drone systems, flight and control, automation, electronics, and photogrammetry, preparing students for FAA Part 107 remote pilot work, with agricultural uses such as crop scouting and irrigation.
Drone educator training
Serves as DUCC's Southern California regional hub, training high school and community college educators in drone skills and curriculum development.
Horticulture education
Offers horticulture degree and certificate study in plant science, propagation, irrigation, pest management, nursery operations, and landscape design for students and green-industry workers, with hands-on greenhouse, aquaponics, and orchard work.
